    DJ Habibeats is a LA-based DJ/producer and is currently a resident DJ for TikTok Radio on Sirius XM. Originally from the Bay Area, he has been DJing for over 12 years and has held residencies at nightclubs across SF and LA. Habibeats is known on TikTok and Instagram for his DJ content, innovative mashups, and music sample series. He has been featured by WorldStar Hip Hop, Complex Magazine, Serato, XXL Magazine, Def Jam Records, Motown Records, Young Money records, and has shared the stage with artists such as Majid Jordan, Waka Flocka Flame, Iamsu, and Rob Stone. @djhabibeats

  • Los Jornaleros del Norte (The Day Laborer Band)

    The day laborer band was created after an ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) raid that took place in City of Industry in 1995 while a mobile health clinic of the Los Angeles County Health Department was providing HIV and other STD testing. Omar Sierra, one of the main vocalists of the band was present during the raid and decided to write a Corrido (ballad) about the incident. As time went on, the Day Laborer Band expanded and became a fundamental tool in the organizing effort. The band’s purpose is to inform, educate, organize, and mobilize day workers, sensitize the general community about day labor related issues, and denounce the abuses committed against them. The band has performed for day laborers at corners and centers, for local unions, for students, for activists, for teachers, etc.

With a generous nod to the aesthetics of the 60s, 70s and 80s, a QUITAPENAS performance is an invitation to harness the energies of the Latin American and African liberation movements: Angola, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and beyond. The name means “to remove worries.” Everybody has a “pena” and the mission of QUITAPENAS is simple: to make you dance and leave you without a worry.
